What Is Dried Lavender?

Dried lavender is a dried product produced by drying fresh lavender. During the drying process, the water content of the fresh product is reduced to very low levels. As a result of drying, approximately 1 kg of dried lavender is obtained from 6 kg of fresh lavender. Drying removes the water and leaves the essence of the product. Therefore, the nutritional values of dried lavender, especially protein, carbohydrates, minerals, and fiber, are highly concentrated.

How to Store Dried Lavender?

Dried lavender has a minimum shelf life of 1 year when stored under suitable conditions. There are 3 main factors that reduce this period:

  • Humidity
  • Sunlight
  • High temperature

To prevent a shorter shelf life, it should be kept in its own packaging in a cool, dry environment away from sunlight.
